I've used those (swaddling esp) on so many infants and they've worked every time. (That even includes the 10 day old pos-tox baby we had who still shook from the effects of the drugs that had been in his little system.) Many people tell me their kids don't like swaddling, but you can't agrue with results! (Now of course there's an age limit on that--my 8 mo old would definitely throw a fit if I tried it now.)

I also think Secrets of the Baby Whisperer (by Tracy Hogg) has a lot of great advice... especially on sleeping!

**For those who read this who don't know me, I do emergency foster care for infants.Jen Yerkesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813798064736377077.post-1514054577267473852009-05-20T14:54:27.192-07:002009-05-20T14:54:27.192-07:00I've always sung to my babies, or had soft music o...I've always sung to my babies, or had soft music on while rocking. That's what all babies do, but not because they resist swaddling. As for our own ideas, how about driving around Anaheim at midnight so our 2 1/2 year old will sleep before Disneyland?Christahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16822339047322098620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813798064736377077.post-5896505434611900492009-05-16T08:09:00.000-07:002009-05-16T08:09:00.000-07:00When Emily was little and totally fussy Scott and ...When Emily was little and totally fussy Scott and read about the "fourth trimester syndrome." Basically the idea is that anything you can do to "re-create" the sounds of the womb will calm the baby.

The vacuum was Emily's favorite, and calmed her almost instantly. I rock in a chair kind of reclining or sway so they feel the movement and they cant fixate on a lot because theyre moving. Theyre also close enough to feel secure, warm, and hear my heart beat which is supposed to be comforting?JHNickodemushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08916475357045438385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813798064736377077.post-26795215632665100652009-05-15T22:16:00.000-07:002009-05-15T22:16:00.000-07:00I found putting the babies in a dark closet for a ...I found putting the babies in a dark closet for a few hours worked, if not, try mixing their formula with some tequila.Jimmiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13584319146461927165noreply@blogger.com
