Henry: 1st day of Preschool...

Henry started his first day of Preschool today!  He was SO EXCITED!  Last week when daddy had his first day of school he spent the day pouting because he didn't get to have his first day and was feeling left out :)  But today was his big day!  He picked out some special clothes to wear (his pirate shirt, of course :) and he wore his new navy blue "Chucks" which he was super thrilled about.  I can't believe my biggest boy is already in preschool!  And next year will be Kindergarten!  Crazy.  As much as I want him to stay little forever, I do love the little boy he is becoming so we'll just embrace each milestone as they come  :)

After we dropped Henry off, I went to exercise, and Charlie stayed in the nursery (right next door to Henry's preschool class), then when I picked him up I let him play for awhile longer.  I was hoping to get some cute pictures of Charlie-boy too, but he's already too cool for me.  He kept telling me "No, mom, no!"  and turning his back on me.  Seriously?!  Oh well, I snuck in a few for good measure...

Although I am going to really miss having Henry at home with me 3 mornings a week, I am really really REALLY looking forward to spending some good alone time with my Charlie.  Sometimes it's hard to see him as his own person when he spends so much time playing and interacting with Henry.  This will be a good thing for us before the baby comes in October, and once the baby comes, Charlie will get to have some good big brother time with the baby all by himself which I think will be sweet as well.  This is a big year for the Wiebes, but it's going to be really wonderful I think!  So many good transitions :)

Happy First Day of School!

John went back to school today.  It will be nice to get back into a routine, but I'm sure going to miss having him around the house.  He's SO helpful!  Henry spent the day feeling "left out" (his words, not mine) because he doesn't get to have his first day of preschool until next Monday.  "All of the other kids are going to have fun at school today, except me!" is what he kept saying.  Poor guy.  And Charlie, well, he just spent the day being Charlie...being super excited about something one minute, and the next minute throwing a tantrum (he is 2, after all :)  And I spent some good time laying on the couch this afternoon since John's tennis practice was pushed back due to the heat advisory.  All in all, a pretty good day, I'd say.  We even ended it with homemade m&m ice cream as a back to school treat!  Doesn't get much better than that for the little boys in this house :)

The first day of school...

John started back to work today.  The last 6 weeks of no teaching and no coaching has been glorious, but it was back to the classroom and the tennis courts today.  The boys missed him (I did too :) but we are so so thankful that he loves his job and that we live close enough to the high school that he can come and eat lunch with us everyday.

I try and make a special dinner for John on the first day of school, tonight it was chicken stir fry with brown rice.  It's one of his favorites.  Charlie was a big fan of the stir fry too.  But Henry...not so much :)

We followed dinner with a special dessert: dirt pudding with gummy worms!  Henry loves gummy worms (thanks to his Aunt Jill), so I thought this dessert would be a big hit with him, and it was!  I made pudding and poured it into a bread pan and then Henry and I crushed up oreos and put them on top and then slid the gummy worms into the "dirt".  Super easy, super fun, and most importantly, super delicious!

The first day of school celebration was a big hit...until bath time.  Charlie managed to poop in the tub, then when John put him in the shower so he could fish out the turd with our colander, Charlie pooped even more on the floor of the shower.  It was awesome.  After Charlie contaminated both the tub and the shower, John took both naked boys out to the patio to play while I cleaned and sanitized all affected areas.  Never a dull moment :)  Last year on the first day of school, Charlie was admitted to the hospital for his eczema, so I'll take his poop shenanigans over his hospital visit any day!
