An odd thought I know, retirement at age 25? Is life really that bad? The answer is of course a resounding no, but this place is just that good. A beautiful lake, tree lined streets, window boxes, porches, shutters, painted doors, a museum for my husband... The list goes on and on. So where is this idyllic refuge?... Cooperstown, NY of course. The home of the
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and just about the most beautiful little village (Yes, it's a village, not a city or town!) I've ever seen.

Just to confirm my love for all things Cooperstown, NY...even the Hall of Fame had a red door!
Me imitating the statue dedicated to the women who played
professional baseball while the men were serving in WWII.

The beautiful Lake Otsego, just 2 blocks away from the museum
I've decided I would pretty much love a porch like this on my house, and of course no porch would be complete without the hanging planters brimming full of brightly hued flora.

Who knew that the place widely known for its storage of the greatest baseball memories, both tangible and intangible, would also be a place that one might find these lovely flower pots hanging from the streetlamps!
Doesn't this house just scream my name? I love it. While on our New England adventures I pretty much fell in love with window boxes and this house just confirms my feelings.

I know, the winter weather is the only problem, maybe we could just retire there for the summer...
Absolutely - "winter" in Shafter and "summer" in Cooperstown. Dream reinstated.
