Morro Bay...

We took our annual pre-basketball season trip to Morro Bay last weekend.  We started off our trip with a visit to the Paso Robles Children's Museum which is located at the volunteer firehouse.  The boys had a great time playing there...

After we finished playing at the museum, we drove the rest of the way to Morro Bay where we enjoyed absolutely beautiful weather!

While at Morro Bay, we played at the condo...

And took a little trip to look at the Los Osos Oaks.  While walking around the oak trees, Charlie did not want to walk, he only wanted to be carried...by mom!  No wonder my back always hurts!...

After visiting the oaks, we took a trip to the SLO Children's Museum to play...

And hung out some more at the condo...

Then, on our last day, after we had cleaned the condo and packed up, we went to the aquarium to feed the seals.  Henry was really excited about this, but when we got their he had no interest in feeding them!  Unfortunately I didn't know this before I bought the 2 little bags of food, so I had to do all the feeding.  I'm not a huge fan of touching dead fish, but I got the job done...

Overall we had a wonderful trip.  I've realized that the key to good vacations is LOW EXPECTATIONS!  Not low expectations for the fun to be had and memories to be made, but low expectations for things like night sleep, car travel, nap schedules, and illness.  Charlie had diarrhea for literally the entire trip, Henry fell out of his bed every night we were there, Charlie ended up in our bed just after midnight for each of the 3 nights, and Charlie woke up at 5:30 at least one of the mornings (the naps and car travel went pretty well though!)  Since I had low expectations for each of these things, I wasn't disappointed when they happened, so I had a much better attitude about them.  Lesson learned!

And, one of the funniest things Henry said on our trip was when we were on our way to the SLO children's museum: "Mom, museums are places where kids can go to pretend that they are real people!"  :)

Morro Bay...

We took our post-basketball season family trip to the beach last weekend. It rained almost the entire time we were there...which actually worked out quite well considering all we really wanted to do was watch basketball, sew, and play with daddy (I'll let you figure out who had what desire). It was probably the first vacation since Henry was born that I truly felt like I was able to relax and actually came home refreshed :)

Here's what we did...

Henry loved to ride down the stairs on daddy's lap:

We took walks to the park & to visit the seals in between showers:

Henry accidentally put both of his legs into one pantleg. Watching him hop around like that was hilarious!:

Lots of march madness watching. Lots:

John and Henry built lots of couch cushion forts:

I worked on my quilt:

Henry became obsessed with seals! He can bark like them and everything. Despite his new obsession with them, he DID NOT like going to the Morro Bay Aquarium to actually feed the seals. He was too close to them and they were too loud! Oh well, maybe next time:

We are so thankful that we have my Grandma Net's great Morro Bay condo to use to refresh ourselves after a very long and draining basketball season.
