Life around here...

While I play catch up on the blog, my posts will completely random and out of order. This picture was taken the week before Christmas. Henry dumped the dried black beans all over the floor and was "cooking" with them on his portable play kitchen stove. Charlie is in his exersaucer chewing on my lens cap...


The month of December can be a long one for me. John is busy and preoccupied with basketball games & tournaments, so I am often home for extra amounts of time by myself with the boys. In John's defense, he spends as much time as humanly possible at home, even rearranging practice times to do so, but I still need to find creative ways to keep things running smoothly around here. Dried beans are my new best friend :) When Charlie starts crawling and putting things in his mouth I'm going to have to figure something else out, but for now, I'll enjoy Henry playing with them while he can.

Around these parts...

Here are some things we've been up to lately...

John pulled out his old baseball cards and he and Henry have been sorting them and using the baseball field on Henry's felt playhouse to set them up...

John and I got Matt Kemp bobblehead dolls at a Dodger game awhile back. Henry discovered them (I can't believe these escaped my many purges :) and they have quickly become his favorite toy. He sleeps with his Matt doll, brings him into the bathroom to help him brush his teeth and wash his hands, and he just generally likes to have Matt wherever he is...

Matt Kemp has become a very real part of Henry's life. John tells Henry that Matt eats his vegetables...so Henry eats his vegetables. Henry also likes to pray for Matt Kemp before he goes to bed. It's pretty sweet...

Sometimes Henry even likes to share Matt with Charlie...


Last weekend I went to Reedley to can peaches with my friend, Miriam. John watched the boys while I worked. Henry and Maggie had a great time playing together...

I've decided that right now I can be a good mom or a good housekeeper...they are mutually exclusive at this point in my life. I'm choosing to be a good mom, so here's what my laundry pile looks like...

Henry is very much into dressing up in sports gear. In this picture he's wearing the batting helmet he borrowed from Grandma Gail...

Pillowcases weren't available, so John had to improvise. I thought he did quite well. Very creative solution, I must say.
