Rearranging Furniture...

...it's true, I've done it again. I think I really like the arrangement this time though (although, as John likes to remind me, I say that every time). In order to combat my emerging dislike for too much open storage, Sharon willingly gave us her old armoir. The T.V. is now hidden from view, as are all of or various media. It is glorious, I must say.

Project: White Drapes

My living room just isn't working for me. I have too much open storage and it just makes me feel a bit claustrophobic. In hopes of combatting my living room claustrophobia, I took down my old drapes & put up these simple white ones. Don't worry though, my fickle decorating whims did not lead to a single penny being spent. I took an old bedsheet, cut it into fourths, added a few seams and a hem, and viola...new drapes! Even John was happy with the transformation.

Project: Armoire Painting

Bob and Sharon bought new bedroom furniture, so they (Sharon) offered me this armoire. I have an elaborate plan to create a new TV stand out of our old kitchen cabinets (more on that in a later post), but that TV stand creation will require quite a bit of time and energy from John (and Bob too...thanks Bob), so this armoire will be a temporary fix, until the kitchen cabinet redo is completed. Although...I may decide I like the armoire for the TV and use the cabinets in the sewing room. Only time will tell. Either way, The armoire is in mint condition, except that I needed to paint the top of the cabinet, and the knobs black to match the rest of the piece. It should hopefully be in its home by the end of the day (pending John's assistance).

Lying in Wait...

So I have this wall in my house that has been a thorn in my side since Day 1. We have a water heater closet on the main wall in our family room. The room was added onto the back of the house by the previous owner, and instead of relocating the water heater, they decided to leave the door as it stood. So now, I have to deal with the decorating ramifications of this decision. I've thought long and hard about this dilemma, and finally, I think I'm ready to tackle the problem. I've decided to hang picture shelves along the wall, and layer a variety of different black frames against the wall. My hope is that this will help camoflauge the oddity. I've purchased the frames and am now trying to pick pictures to fill them. My talented brother-in-law will be a great asset to my efforts. My goal is to finish this project over Spring Break. We'll see how it goes...
