See, the problem with winning first place in your state's Miss Teen competition is that Miss Teen USA is broadcast live on national TV. So when you get an easy question (even by teen beauty pageant standards) and mangle it like a rich guy dropping a foul ball out of a luxury box, it's on the Internet within minutes. Keep your eye on AC Slater, who handles this with grace and aplomb, when nobody could have blamed him for a Mike Myers-staring-at-Kanye West sideways glance.
As a U.S. Americans, such as, teachers, we will now be making it our mission to help the education system in South Africa--or over here--to ensure that if any of our students or future students appear on TV, they can enunciate and string together a coherent sentence.

Ahhhh! I heard this on the radio while driving to work this morning. This poor girl is from Lexington High (on the other side of the lake from us) and everybody here is talking about what an idiot she is. I do feel a bit sorry for her, though I couldn't finish watching your linked clip, as it was too painful.
I was thinking this might not be good press for your new state, but it was so incredibly funny that we had to post it. Poor girl, but really, how could you be so dumb?!
Oh man am I proud to be an educator in South Carolina. Let's just think that she was insanely nervous. I just showed Scott and all he could say was a long "wow" followed by a sigh.
That was the most painful thing I have ever seen... Mark insisted on playing it over and over several times, trying to interpret what she was trying to stay. Um, yeah, we still have no clue what she was tring to say. My favorite part was her repetition of "um, such as..."
I better make sure I teach my 4th grade kids well, such as, the Iraqie children, such as, their education is better, and I need to make sure my children know, um, such as, on a map.
All I can say is, "wow"... that's horrible. (and sad for our future- she'll probably have kids one day too).
She was on the Today Show this morning. I didn't see it, but saw clips on our local news tonight. Poor girl. I do feel sorry for her!
