The Power of Baking Soda...

John and I have been fighting a clogged sink drain for a few weeks now. Feeling a bit bold an adventurous, we looked up non-Drano remedies for the problem. The solution that came up time and time again was a combination of baking soda and vinegar. We poured a 1/4 cup baking soda down the drain, then followed it with a cup of vinegar. As the chemical reaction took place we covered the drain and let the mixture work its magic for 15 minutes. We then poured hot water down the drain to finish the job. I was excited about using household products to complete the task...until I realized...that it didn't work! Our drain is still marginally clogged and I fear we may have to try something stronger to dislodge the unfavorable mass. Sigh...I guess we're right back where we started. Although, I did discover new and exciting household uses for both baking soda and vinegar. I've not lost my faith in these products just yet, so I may give some of those uses a try. It may make housecleaning far less dire for my allergies than it is currently. I'll have to experiment and see.
