I really want to try my hand at making clothes. Hancock Fabrics was having a "5 Simplicity patterns for $5 sale" so I thought I'd venture over and see if they had anything worth purchasing. A few weeks ago my cousin, Jenny, was telling me about these really cute skirts in the J.Crew catalog and how we could definately make them. My goal today was to find a pattern that might allow me to recreate the J.C. skirt. I think I found a fairly decent match and hope to use some leftover Urban Outfitters bedspread material (not the neighborhood scene fabric, it's more of a Japanese Cherry Blossom Print) on skirt #1. Once I master the skirt, then I'll try my hand at using a better fabric. They had a cute denim fabric at Hancock's that looked very similar to the inspiration skirt, so I may go for that on skirt #2 (or #10, however long it takes me to understand the pattern). Hopefully I'll be wearing my own clothes by Spring Break...

I think that skirt looks very similar. I think with Grandma's or my mom's help we could make sure it's a good fit.
Yay! I'm very excited for you. Can't wait to see the finished skirt!
