Every year the (male) Penner cousins pick the oranges from Grandpa Art & Grandma Donna's tree. It takes every last one of them to finish the job due to the overabudance of fruit...not that anyone's complaining. This year there was more help than ever & the job was completed in near record time (according to my very inaccurate record-keeping methods). We are now enjoying the fruits of their labor. I've been able to consume exhorbitant amounts of yogurt, granola, and fresh oranges...my favorite winter snack. It just doesn't get much better than that. 3 cheers for the orange pickers. My January & February just wouldn't be the same without you...
Addendum: It has been brought to my attention that my orange picking account seems to imply that the services of the absent Penner cousins were not missed. This is completely untrue. The orange picking process would have gone even faster with the able bodies of Elijah, Joseph, Jordan, & David, but alas, I did not mention this above. The presence of the older generation did speed the process this year though. So missing Penner cousins, might we see you at Christmas next year? We can only hope & pray for a full Penner family reunion in December of '09. That will indeed be great fun for all (as well as a boon to the orange picking festivities).
