My first Mother's Day...

Henry started the day with his first visit to church. We were greeted with quite the fanfare as very few can resist a newborn baby. We made our way to the cry room where we realized almost immediately that Henry was due for a change. As John laid him out on the cry room pew (you know, the kind that slant backwards a bit...) Henry promptly relieved himself. Yes, we did have a towel over him, but it was no match for this output. The rest of his drippings ended up on our changing mat...the plastic kind...the kind that doesn't absorb ANYTHING. Lovely. A dozen wipes later we managed to have a somewhat clean kid.

Note to self: Always change on a flat surface...buy more wipes.

After the diapering fiasco, the rest of the day went rather well. He fussed a bit, but we managed all right. The picture below was taken at the end of the day...after he had already soiled himself (again...hence the lack of pants) and he was having some major crankiness issues.

The following pictures are what it took to get him calm enough to take the above picture:

The flower below is from my parents for my first Mother's Day:

The book below is what John (er...Henry) got me for Mother's Day (I may have dropped a hint or two, but still...he was listening):

It was a great day.
