Henry is growing up...

Watching my boys grow up is always a bit bittersweet.  Bitter because they aren't babies anymore (wah!) but sweet because of how much joy it brings me to watch them learn and grow!  It seemed like Henry grew up before my very eyes last week.  He attended Vacation Bible School for the first time and LOVED it!  He learned his Bible verses, loved singing the songs and doing the hand motions and just generally soaked up every single second of his time there.  So much fun to watch him learn more about Jesus!  I think this picture of him and the other boys in his preschool class is just precious...

Everyday last week, after VBS, Henry had more swim lessons.  I was seriously thinking about not sending him after his terrible first week, but we went ahead with it, and I am so glad we did!  Henry was a totally different kid than he was the week before.  He did not cry at all, and he was Mr. Swimmer all of a sudden.  I don't know where his bravery came from, but it was so wonderful to watch.  I couldn't believe the change from one week to the next!

He did rocket arms...

Then he swam with big arms!...

He even smiled when he got to Mr. Edgmon...totally different than last week...

Mr. Edgmon's granddaughter helped him with lessons for a few of the days and Henry loved doing his rocket arm glides to her.  He even got so brave that a few times he pushed off the steps to her while she was working with another kid.  He was getting a bit too brave in mom's opinion!...

He swam to the steps by himself...

Check out those big arms (big is relative isn't it?!  At least they got out of the water :)...

He even started grabbing onto the side and scooting himself away from the step.  Totally different kid from last week I tell you...

And he even jumped in to Mr. Edgmon...

Then he swam to the side by himself!  Amazing!...

He even added kickers...

At the end of the last lesson Mr. Edgmon gave them one very important swimming rule: Never swim without an adult.

Henry is definitely still not "water safe" but he's a whole lot safer than he was prior to these lessons.  Way to go, Henry!  What a week of growth for our sweet 3-year old boy :)
