Fondness for Charlottesville

While on our trip John and I spent 4 days with John's cousin, David, his wife Charis, and their 2 daughters, Charlotte & Laurel. David attends graduate school at the University of Virginia which necessitates their living in Charlottesville, which is a sweet town that has a wonderful downtown mall. It is where Dave Matthews' music career was realized, which of course makes it that much more intriguing to us. This DMB music video was filmed on the Downtown Mall and is linked here for your enjoyment.

While in Charlottesville, John and I drove to the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiked up to the Humpback Rocks where we enjoyed an amazing view of the Shenendoah Valley. The picture below is our attempt at capturing ourselves in the midst of the scenery.

Thanks for posting the DMB video. I think I had heard of that, but I had never seen it. I don't know who the guy in the video is, but he sort of resembles the true life C'ville institution of Elvis the burger flipper. There is this guy who works a a local burger joint and his hair, chops, and sunglasses are just so Elvis. Then, in case there was any doubt that this was intentional, he has a big tatoo of Elvis on his bicep. Really nice guy, but I don't think he hugs strangers.

The guy in the video is also on 30 Rock.

That guy kind of got his big break with the DMB video. Here's his Wiki page:

One of the underrated parts of 30 Rock are his trucker's hats, which he apparently designs himself.
