Mowing Green...

So it was that when John and I purchased our home in April of 2006 that we found ourselves with a lawn but without a mower. We were unsure of our mowing preferences, but we knew that the best mower for us would be the one that produced the lowest emissions.

Along comes Bob to our rescue with an ad from the Bakersfield Californian that promises a special trade-in opportunity like no other. The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District was offering electric lawnmowers for $150 with the trade in of a used gas model. Bob and Sharon agreed to provide their old gas mower for our trade in purposes and we could pay the remaining balance. (These mowers usuall retail for $400, so our $150 purchase was a steal!)

To work the machine, you merely charge the battery for a few hours and then attach the battery to the mower itself. On a small yard like ours a full charge will allow us to mow our lawn twice. We have also purchased an edging attachement that attaches to the front of the mower and uses the battery for power. A great tool that hogs very little of our valuable garage space. Our neuton mower has provided us an opportunity to both care for our lawn as well as the air in the San Joaquin Valley. So if you're looking for a lawn mower with a conscience...

Hi Katie. I clicked on your link from Christie Chambless' blog and was like...Hey, Justin works with her! Just thought I'd say HI! Cool mower. If we hadn't bought an expensive one when we moved in, I think I'd consider it. Maybe when ours dies.
