- 3 c. quick oatmeal
- 1 scant T. salt
- 2/3 c. brown sugar
- 2 T. molasses
- 2 heaping T. shortening
- 3 pkgs. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. warm water
- 1tsp. white sugar
- 6-6 1/2 c. flour
- 3 c. boiling water
Pour 3 cups of boiling water over the first 5 ingredients. Stir until shortening is dissolved. Cool until lukewarm. Soak 3 packages dry yeast in 3/4 cup warm water with 1 teaspoon white sugar, let rise. Now mix yeast with oatmeal mixture. Stir well. Add 6 to 6 1/2 cups flour, one cup at a time. Knead or use dough mixer, let rise until double. Use 5 (1-lb.) coffee cans to bake round loaves. Fill cans 1/3 full. Cover to let rise. Bake at 35o degrees for 40-45 minutes.
**I used 4 loaf pans instead of the 5 coffee cans. Coffee cans would have been fun, but we didn't have any.
**I didn't let my dough rise enough the second time around, which is why my bread is a bit flat. Still tastes good though.
**This recipe comes from the Rosedale Bible Church cookbook pg. 209 for those that have it.

Are you getting restless? You're a busy "bee" for sure! If I knew waiting to be born would encourage my mom to do all kinds of fabulous stuff, well I might have taken longer! :D
