Cloth...

I am slowly entering the world of cloth diapers. I told myself I'd like to be fully immersed by the time Henry is 6 weeks old...we'll see how I do. Thanks to cousin Charis for helping us get started. Any words of wisdom from seasoned cloth users?

Get yourself a washable wet bag, one that can be washed with the diapers, to carry with you to put diapers in. Get flushable diaper liners once he gets solid poop (it's so much less gross).

I'm so thrilled to see that a friend is entering this cloth diaper world too! We are waiting until Elsie and Eli are over seven pounds (the minimum weight to use those wonderful bumgenuis diapers like Henry's!) before trying it out. We've already purchased two twelve packs.

One thing I would suggest is to get a diaper sprayer that connects to the toilet. Then you just spray out the yuck before putting it in the lined diaper pale (like mentioned above.)

Bumgenius brand makes both a diaper pale liner and sprayer. There is a great site out of my little town that sells both. it is www.euphoriababy.com

They are super nice (phone number is on site for any questions) and offer lots of helpful advice to those of us trying to figure this all out.

I'm glad you'll be nice and experienced with the world of cloth diapers before I do them with my next wee babe. Then I can beg you for advice because I already I feel like I'm on information overload researching what the best options are! :) And I"m not even prego yet! :)

I've heard wonderful things about the toilet sprayer. A friend that cloth diapered with her last baby says that is on the top of her "purchase" list for next time. They moved a lot with this last baby so they never ended up getting one.

Keep us updated on your progress!

Just rinse them in the toilet. Put the rinsed diapers in the washing machine that is filled with bleach water. When you have a load just spin and then start the load. You only have to handle the dirty diapers once. the bleach water sanitizes and also kills the smell.

Oh! I did cloth diapers and LOVED them...It's always nice to know other people who do cloth. We also used the "washing machine soak" method...just toss them in a full tub of water and when you're out of diapers or your tub is full just send it on through the cycle...no fuss no muss...We used Fuzzibunz, but if I were to do it over, I would get all prefolds and covers...
