15 months...

15-month highlights:
  • Henry loves smoothies! Every morning when he wakes up he walks directly to the cupboard that stores the blender and points to it. When we pick him up, he opens the cupboard door and tries to pull out the blender himself.
  • Henry loves to sit in the car/truck/boat and "drive" by turning the steering wheel. Unfortunately for him, sitting in a hot car in the middle of July is not on mommy & daddy's list of favorites.
  • Golf clubs, bats, basketballs, hoops, batting tees, and balls are Henry's favorite toys.
  • Henry also loves his playhouse. He wants to get it out most days.
  • Henry sleeps through the night at home and goes to bed easily most nights. His bedtime routine consists of: a bath, brushing teeth, reading a book, prayers, rock to sleep.
  • Naps are still a bit of a struggle. Lately we've been able to watch Sesame Street with him in the brown chair and he will relax and fall asleep for a nap. When this doesn't work, I take him on a walk, where he usually falls asleep easily, and then I push the stroller in his room and let him sleep there.
  • I think the major reason Henry has sleep difficulties is because he has a difficult time relaxing enough to fall asleep. And yes, we've tried letting him cry himself to sleep...doesn't work. He manages to cry for hours without an ounce of sleep...not productive for us. at. all.
  • Right now, vacationing with Henry is incredibly tiring for John and me. He usually doesn't sleep very well, which makes us tired, and nothing around us is babyproofed, so we spend much of our time trying to stay one step ahead of him. We know it will get better, but for now, it's a lot of work.
  • Henry says "mama", "baba", "dada".
  • Henry is talking up a storm...although we can't tell what he's trying to say. His babble consists of the sounds "doydoydoydoy" and "cadacadacadacada". It's pretty cute.
  • Henry is pretty strong-willed and opinionated about what he wants and doesn't want. He has now started throwing fits when he doesn't get his way.
  • Henry can open the door to the back patio. Thank goodness we have it fenced in now!
  • Henry loves tools, especially a tape measure.
  • He also loves to carry our car keys around and tries to use them to unlock doors.
