A day in the life...

I've done this once before (oddly enough it was almost exactly a year ago), but I thought it would be a good idea to document a "typical" day around our house before baby #2 comes along. So her it is...a day in our life:

Henry slept in his big boy bed for the second night in a row (this deserves a post of its own) and woke up at 7:15. He watched some construction truck videos on youtube while John showered and I made breakfast.

Breakfast: leftover coffee cake & eggs for John & me, and yogurt, granola, and strawberries for Henry.

While I clean up the breakfast dishes, Henry reads in his room.

Then he plays with his farm.
I continue to work in the kitchen...

Then I start the laundry.

Here's where things start to unravel (I think it's only 8:15 or 8:30 at this point). Henry throws a fit because I am washing BOTH of his Dodger shirts and he wants to wear them (never mind the fact that they are both too big hand-me-downs). He keeps banging on the washer and yelling "ba-ba". Our day is off to a great start. When I finally get his mind off of the Dodger shirts (I think we seriously need to invest in 7 Dodger shirts, one for every day of the week :) Henry decides that he wants daddy, so he spends a good chunk of time throwing a fit and calling for "dada".

I finally convince Henry to draw daddy a picture that we will hang on the door for him so he can see it when he gets home. This works for awhile.

After the art, Henry goes outside, but comes right back in because it is too cold and his hands and feet are covered in mud. We rinse him off in the sink, which he loves.

After the sink rinse-off Henry needs a diaper change. He gets mad about this and hits me in the face, so he gets a time out...

Time for a snack...for both of us.

Here's Henry pulling on my leg and crying. Not sure what this tantrum was about, but it's our third or fourth of the day. I don't think it's even 10:30 yet.

Finally Henry wants to play with his toys. His favorite was the drum this morning.

Time to make lunch...egg salad.

Daddy's home! (Not sure who was more excited about his arrival at this point, Henry or me).

Lunch.

Drums with daddy.

Back to work for John.

Pre-nap videos & juice for Henry.

Naptime!

Time for me to clean-up and do laundry.

Perfect timing...Daddy walks in the door and then Henry wakes up. Let the games begin.

It starts to rain...bummer. No outside play today.

I work on signs for our church's Vacation Bible School.

More coloring.

Luckily the rain didn't stop Henry and John from playing on the patio. A little shooting lesson for Henry.

Some playing of catch with his new baseball glove.

The rain stops, so they move out to the yard...

Soccer for Henry. Golf for John.

Dinner (taco soup...I love eating soup in May!)

Ice cream sundaes for dessert, thanks to the leftover homemade ice cream I made for our small group last Sunday night.

Wrestling amongst the pillows.

A little hand quilting on the baby's quilt for me.

Horsey back rides with dad.

Bathtime.

PJ's.

Bible Stories with dad (I really love this Bible...although it's still a bit wordy for Henry, but everything else about it is great!)

Now they are reading one of Henry's favorite books. It is a 4-sport Stadium Guide. The pictures are stadium renderings in blue, white, and red. I can't for the life of me figure out why he likes this book, other than the fact that he is indeed John's son.

Bedtime in his big boy bed with mom.
The end.

That is our favorite Bible, too. We have given it as gifts. I think Aaron and Tracy need to read this post, just so they know they are not alone in this tantrum business. Oh, two-year olds...

It is interesting to note that the tantrums ended when John came home.Such is the life of a mother!

The picture of him crying in front of the washer is hilarious. Socks on his hands and a farmer tan. Classy. ;)

What a neat idea...Day in the Life...Luke will love how sports fill Henry's day. Thats pretty much what he is hoping for. Also, I'm w/ Sra. Brooks.

I love it! I hope this does not come out wrong, but it is almost comforting to read about Henry's tantrums. It is nice to know that I am not alone!
