Best Dodger game ever!...

We went to another Dodger game last Sunday...and boy did we have fun! Since Henry can't really handle a whole game, we decided to go to church and leave for the game after that (If you know John at all, you will know what a HUGE sacrifice it is for him to arrive at a game late. If it were up to him, he'd arrive at every baseball game when the gates open...usually 2 hours before the start of the game!). We parked at one of the neighboring parks and walked into the stadium (not parking in the lot saves us $15 :)...

We had seats in the top deck, which is really the best place to sit with kids in our opinion. There is a wide walkway behind the seats that isn't cluttered with random vendors and an abundance of people, so when Henry gets squirrly, we can just take him up there to run around.

John and his boys...

Despite arriving to the game in the 5th inning we still saw lots of action on the field. Namely, Justin Sellers first major league home run as well as a Matt Kemp home run. Matt Kemp happens to be Henry's favorite player, so he was thrilled to see Matt circle the bases. He kept saying, "Matt, home run!" and moving his finger in a circle to show us how Matt ran the bases :)

Henry also got to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" (This is one of his favorite songs--sometimes we even have to sing it before he goes to bed). He can sing the words "Root, Root...Dodgers", "1, 2, 3...out!" and "old ballgame."

BUT, the big excitement of the day came AFTER the game. On Sundays, kids get to run the bases after the field is clear, and oh my was Henry excited about this (and if we are being honest here...so was John!) John even took him to the high school baseball field Sunday morning to practice. There was a huge line of kids waiting to be herded into the stadium for their chance to run. The line wrapped around the third base side and the pavilions and the kids were led onto the field through the visitor's bullpen. Because the bullpen has a pretty large step down onto the field, those people with strollers (us!) were ushered underneath the pavilion seating and onto the field through the center field gate. This meant that we didn't have to wait in the long line and were basically crowding in front of hundreds and hundreds of kids! This meant a very short wait for us, which was great :)

On the field...

Since Henry was too young to run the bases on his own, John got to run with him!...

After finishing his run, Henry just stared at the stadium while we made our way back to the center field gate to exit (everyone else just exited the field from a gate just past 3rd base)...

After we were out of the stadium Henry threw a huge fit because he wanted to keep running the bases...

Overall we had a great day at the game! If you have a little sports fan on your hands like we do (and a big sports fan :) this activity will definitely be a big hit.
