Week 11...

11-week highlights:
  • We are slowly getting on top of Charlie's eczema. I've found that a combination of aveeno lotion and aquafor seems to work pretty well for us. But goodness, this boy is so greasy once we apply it!
  • Due to Charlie's persistent cradle cap issues, his hair seems to be falling out as his dry skin scales come off of his scalp. He seems to have a growing bald spot on the top of his head...kind of makes me sad, but it will grow back.
  • Charlie's diaper rash issues are not going away. Resinol was recommended to me, so that's what we've been using, but the diaper rash is still there. So frustrating!
  • I've talked to some of my friends who have had kids with eczema and they've said that this time of year is usually the worst because of the heat, almond harvest, season changes, etc. We went to Pismo this past weekend, and not surprisingly, Charlie's skin looked much better than it has in weeks. I'm thinking that getting him out of the heat and the harvest was just what he needed.
  • Despite all of Charlie's skin issues he continues to be such a happy baby. I didn't know babies could be this happy, but he is...and it's wonderful!
  • Charlie still goes to bed around 10ish and sleeps until about 6:30. He even sleeps like this when we are on vacation...I sure hope this continues :)
  • His morning nap is taken at 8:30. Pretty much like clockwork he gets tired then and falls asleep easily. He usually sleeps for about 2 hours.
  • He hasn't seemed to find an afternoon nap pattern, but hopefully this will come soon. He does take afternoon naps, but they aren't consistently at the same time yet.
  • Charlie loves to lay in his crib and watch his mobile.
  • Charlie is starting to giggle. It doesn't sound exactly like a giggle yet, but if he smiles really big he will often make loud cooing noises that I'm counting as giggles :)
  • Henry is really very sweet to Charlie. He likes to say "Hi sweet boy!" when he talks to him(this is what he hears John and I say to him :) He also likes to tell us to turn on the microwave vent for white noise when he is crying.
  • Charlie is a complete and utter delight, plain and simple. I think he may bring a nice dose of mellowness to the Wiebe house (which we probably all need :)
