Disneyland (part1)...

For Christmas this year, Bob & Sharon gifted all of us with a 2-day trip to Disneyland & California Adventure!  Henry has been anxiously awaiting this trip since Christmas, to say he was excited would be a bit of an understatement.  We told him that before we could go to Disneyland Aunt Jill had to have her baby (yeah, Ruby!) and daddy had to finish basketball season and start tennis season, and we had to celebrate Easter and work at the MCC Sale.  Finally all of these things passed and we were ready to go!

We left Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes after we left...we got a flat tire!  On I-5, right at Pyramid Lake we ran over a nail.  John heard a pop, thought something shifted in the trunk, but then felt the car fishtail a bit.  He knew immediately what had happened.  When he looked in his rearview mirror he quickly realized that there were NO CARS in the right lanes, which meant he was able to quickly get our car over to the shoulder of the road.  Excellent driving on John's part.  We called AAA and a tow truck got to us in 40 minutes and had the tire changed in 5.  Technically we could have changed the tire ourselves, but the flat was on the rear driver's side tire which was dangerously close to traffic.  A professional would be able to do it much quicker and easier than us, which they did.  Once we had our spare tire on, we drove to Castaic where we got a new tire and then drove the rest of the way to Anaheim without incident.  Annoying, but we managed.  The boys were troopers!

We stayed the night in a hotel on Saturday night (both boys slept great!) and then got up bright and early so that we could be at the park when it opened on Sunday...

We took our requisite family photos in front of the train station..

And, of course, had to snap a picture of the kids in their Mickey/Minnie mouse gear...

The Brookses (is that how you make that plural, Jill?)...

The Wiebes...

Grandpa Bob & Grandma Sharon with the grandkids...

Jill and Sharon knew about getting celebration buttons on Main Street, so we got each of the kids a "first time visit" button and Henry a birthday button since his birthday is this Sunday!...

We made it into the park before the rides actually opened, so we had to wait a few minutes...

After they let us in, we went straight to Dumbo, which was a big hit...

This is Henry's "I'm taking everything in" face.  He is very serious when he experiences anything for the first time...

Henry and I rode on Dumbo together, per his request...

After Dumbo it was on to the carousel...

Lots more pictures to share, but they'll come in parts 2 and 3.  Yeah Disneyland!
