Henry's Fire Station party...

Last Sunday, our Henry turned 3!  I can hardly believe it!  We did most of our celebrating on Saturday. We invited his cousins and a few friends (who feel a lot like cousins) to join us at the fire station for a little station tour.  Henry has been begging me to take him to the fire station, so we finally made it happen.  Henry had a great time!  He told me that the best part of his day was getting to see the fire engines :)  Here are some pictures from our morning...

Before we met our friends at the fire station Henry got to open two of his birthday presents from us: Richard Scarry's A Day at the Fire Station and Curious George and the Firefighters.  They were a big hit.  He LOVES books!...

We started our tour by watching a fire safety video...

Shelly gave me some cute plastic fire hats that her dad had leftover from a giveaway he had done, so I just covered over the label on the front with a "Henry is 3!" badge.  They were fun!...

After the video and short station tour, we went outside to look at the trucks...

Charlie in his firetruck onesie...

The firemen showed us what they look like when they wear their gear and some of the sounds that said gear makes...

The kids were great listeners...

Henry got to try on the oxygen tank...

The whole group (mostly)...

After our tour, we just sat on the grass outside of the station and had a few snacks (popcorn, apple slices, a mini cupcake, and a juice box)...

And opened a few presents...

Cousin Levi loved all of the tissue paper!...

Just as we were packing up to leave the alarm rang and the firemen were called to a medical emergency!  Perfect timing for us, we were able to have our tour and then watch them actually respond to a call...

The four of us...

We had a great time!  I felt my inner teacher coming out as I planned our little "field trip".  I'm all about educational experiences, so this was obviously right up my alley.  I'm glad we got to indulge Henry's interest in fire trucks.  Happy Birthday Henry!

I was thinking as I read this that it was awfully like a field trip. AND LOVING it! If field trips arent so much part of school anymore, lets make them part of birthday parties! Educational birthday parties!!!
