Week 51...

51-week highlights:

  • Charlie is taking more and more steps every day and he gets a big grin on his face when he takes them!
  • Charlie is starting to climb.  I can't take my eyes off of him for a second.  Last week I caught him on top of our little blue table, then he managed to climb up to the big table and grab my spoon out of my oatmeal and help himself, and he can now climb up and stand on our little kids chairs.  He's keeping me on my toes.
  • Charlies is starting to say "Nahnahnahnah" a lot.  Not sure if it actually means anything, but he says it none-the-less.
  • It's been going on for about a month now, but when Charlie sleeps, he is all over the crib.  He rolls, he scoots, he twists, he turns.  As long as he doesn't climb out, we're good :)
  • Charlie loves to eat blueberries, but sometimes he prefers to just squeeze them instead of eat them.
  • Charlie still loves to play with balls.
  • He also still loves Henry.
  • Changing Charlie's diaper is pretty difficult right now.  He twists and turns so much that we really have to put some muscle into keeping him still.
  • He and Henry got hand-foot-mouth disease last week.  Charlie's skin broke out in little red blisters all over, but the worst spots were on his feet, legs, hands, arms, chest, and diaper area.  They didn't seem to really bother him at all which was good.  They did, however, cause him to sleep horribly.  John and I were up every night for 2-3 hours with him.  We even resorted to driving him in the car and walking him around the block in the middle of the night!
  • During our middle of the night hang out sessions, I've discovered that he's moderately entertained by Sesame Street.
  • Charlie took a 3-hour nap today which is the longest he's napped since he got HFMD.  Hopefully this means that there are better nights ahead for us...we shall see.
  • Well, next week Charlie turns one!  It will be fun to celebrate him on his special day.  Despite the long nights last week, we just love this boy of ours :)
