The great flood...

This morning we took the boys over the Grandpa Art and Grandma Donna's house for some fun!  John's grandparents don't have sprinklers to water the main part of their lawn, instead, they do it the old-fashioned way...by flooding it.  Grandma Sharon and her siblings used to play in the flooded yard when they were younger, then John and Jill and their cousins played in the flooded yard, and now a new generation gets to enjoy the fun that comes with a lawn covered in a few inches of water.  And, oh boy is there some fun to be had! 

I am including WAY too many pictures in this post, but I just love all of the memories they capture, so I'm including them all.  Prepare for a photo dump...

Grandma Sharon brought an old board over for Henry to use as a diving board.  This diving board idea has been popular with all 3 generations of flooders...

After awhile of some pretty small jumps (there was no spring on the board after all :), Grandpa Bob decided to step on the end of the board as Henry jumped.  He got significantly higher with Grandpa's help...

Charlie just loved walking around.  It is nice that he has recently mastered standing up on his own.  Otherwise he would have been stuck crawling in the water, and I don't think he would have been a huge fan of that...

While we were watching the boys play, we kept talking about how they needed a little sled to ride on.  After awhile, Grandpa Bob came out with one he fashioned from an old piece of wood and a long piece of rope.  He threw a towel on the top of it to prevent splinters and wouldn't you know it the boys had the perfect water toy!...

John got Henry going REALLY fast.  Henry loved it! (Until John hit a dry patch and the sled stopped but Henry kept going and face planted into the grass)...

Such a fun activity for the boys!  We hope we can play in the flooded yard at least one more time this summer.  Maybe our cousins can come too next time!
