Project: Bench Cushion

So, I've been meaning to make a bench cushion ever since I got the bench for Christmas last year, but alas, had never gotten around to it. However, this weekend, things changed. I found this amazing Amy Butler fabric at Strawberry Patches yesterday and knew it would work out perfectly. I took the foam that my dad let me have and cut it to size, sewed some old drapery lining around it to make a pillow form and then drove into Bakersfield with Denise to purchase the fabric you see below as well as some cream piping. It was my first solo piping experience, but I think I did rather well all things considered. ( Although there are no close up pictures for a reason). Enjoy the photos. I have one project left for the weekend, so we'll see if I get it done. You'll be the first to know.

Notice the beadboard accents on the side (& back which you can't see here). John put those on the bench for me to add a bit of extra charm.

What a busy weekend you've had! The cushion looks so great - I noticed the piping in the picture and thought "piping?! katie is so able!" And then I read on and discovered that you did the piping SOLO. I am nothing short of extremely impressed. All the projects look great!
