New Idea...

The shelves that I was greatly anticipating are, sigh, just not working for me. Once I put the frames on them it just looked too cluttered and seemed to communicate overdone more than subtle style. Because of this, I've decided to go in a new direction with the area behind our couch. I'm planning to take the old wooden shutters that were once affixed to the front of our house and hang them horizontally on the wall with another shutter-like piece of wood in between the two. These shutters will be painted, using a crackle finish a very light cream color, lighter than the current wall color (which I still love thanks to last summer's painting debacle). On the shelves I'll hang my growing collection of W's, which I've been itching to display together for quite some time. The shutters won't completly cover the door, I'll still need to purchase a glass doorknob, thanks Toni for the suggestion, but overall I think I'll enjoy this much more than what I have know.

I know I appear fickle and prone to a variety of whims and fancies, but in my defense, I find my creative outlet in decorating. I enjoy trying new things and know that, without a bit of an adventurous spirit, I may never stumble upon ideas that I totally love: like this. So, if changing things around the house isn't for you, feel free to enjoy the journey with me, but don't get too attached to anything, because you never know how long I'll leave it that way.

Love the idea! I am really interested to see how the crackle finish turns out, as I have been unsuccessful at crackle in the past :)
